The Crucifix Lift used to be done with kettlebells. The bells were generally loaded heavier toward the rear to help hold the hands in the correct position. Today, the rules call for two evenly loaded dumbbells.
The weights are taken to arm's length overhead and lowered at the referee's signal until they are held at arms length at the lifter's sides, parallel to the floor. The palms must face up during the lift.
The lifter starts while standing erect but may lean back to any extent during, and on completion of the lift. The knees have to remain locked.
