One Hand Snatch
This lift is easier to learn than the two-hand snatch. The bar is grasped in the center and pulled from the floor to overhead in one motion. After the bar is pulled to about the level of the chest, the lifter squats down to catch the weight. It is best done, however, by turning to the side facing away from the lifting arm, as in the photo on the right. In other words, if lifting with the left arm, as in the pictures, pull the weight up and jump, or pivot the feet to the right. If lifting with the right, jump, or pivot to the left. Catch the weight on your straight arm then stand and face the referee.
