In the IAWA and the USAWA, the thick bar deadlift is known as the Fulton Deadlift. A 50 mm, or two inch bar is used. (At least 1 15/16 inches)
Any lift can be done on a thick bar, such as the Clean & Jerk, Clean & Press, One-Hand Deadlift, Barbell Curls, Reverse Curls, any lift at all. Competitions are also held with thick handled dumbbells. A regular workout done with a thick bar will really work the forearms and grip.
