Two Hands Anyhow
A barbell and a dumbbell or kettlebell is used. It can also be done with two dumbbells.
As the name says, the weights are put overhead "anyhow" the lifter choses. Usually the barbell is clean and push-jerked overhead with two hands. Then it is transfered to one hand and the lifter bends over and swings the dumbbell to his shoulder. From there it is pressed overhead.
Another way is to get the barbell and the dumbbell to the shoulders and then jerk one then the other or jerk both at the same time.
This is a studio photograph of Arthur Saxon. He used to bent press the barbell, first. Then, holding the bar overhead and keeping an eye on it, he would squat down again, grab the kettlebell and swing it up to his shoulder. From there he would press the kettlebell and hold both overhead. He has held the record since 1905 at 445 pounds. (335 pound barbell and a 110 pound kettlebell).
