Two Hands Swing

The Two Hands Swing can be done with the dumbells between the feet or to the outside. They can be positioned ahead of the feet or a little behind. The dumbells are taken off the floor at the same time and given a preliminary swing to the front, if the bells were behind the feet, or to the rear if the bells started in front of the feet. Then the dumbells are swung back down (but don't let them touch the floor) to gain momentum for the main effort of swinging the weights overhead. Hold both dumbells overhead with the feet in line to await the down signal. Both dumbells must be lifted together. Even though two hands are being used in this lift, the "poundage possibility" is about the same or even a little less than in the One-Hand Swing. The lifter in this photo is W. A. Pullum, a famous British lifter. This photo was taken around 1915. He held 48 out of 52 records at his usual bodyweight of 122 pounds.
