Vertical Bar Deadlift
The Verticle Bar Deadlift is done with a one inch or two inch bar up to 30 inches long. A collar is fastened or welded to the bottom. No knurling is allowed on the bar. The bar is gripped near the top and is not permitted to touch the forearm or leg. Also, the lifting hand can not be locked against the thigh. The weight is to be lifted clear of the floor and held for the for the referee's signal. The free hand may be braced against the leg but must be free of the body prior to the end of the lift. Legs must be straight. The mid-point of the weight must reach the height of the knees. Shoulders need not be pulled back.
This lift can also be performed with two vertical bars. In this case, the bars must be the same diameter and loaded to equal weight.
